The computational biomechanics lab is focused on improving total joint replacement outcomes through the application of computational mechanics. The research seeks to optimize joint replacement designs for long-term functionality and reliability. Currently the lab is evaluating a new total knee replacement for an industry leader (their current knee product has over $500 million in annual sales, which would be expected to grow for the new device!). Both graduate and undergraduate students are involved in the research and presenting papers at major conferences.
