New Faculty Join ECE

Two new faculty members have officially joined the DU ECE department. Dr. Mohammad Mahoor, Assistant Professor from the University of Miami, is an expert in image processing, computer vision, and pattern recognition. He has applied his expertise in the field of biometric security for 3-D face recognition and to analyze the expressions of children with autism. Dr. Kimon Valavanis, Professor and Department Chair, is an expert in robotics, control, and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). Dr.

Prof. Voyles Invited to Robotics Roadmapping Workshop

The Computing Community Consortium (CCC) has, through a grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF), approved a study to formulate a targeted R&D roadmap for robotics. The process is managed by a broad group of researcher across major US institutions. Prof. Voyles has been invited to participate in this workshop to help: (1) identify a focused set of major US research goals for Emerging Technologies and Trends in robotics, and (2) develop a roadmap for achieving these research goals in the coming decade.
